Criadores Artesanos S.L. is a family wine cellar attached to the Utiel-Requena Denomination of Origin, situated in the municipal area of Sinarcas, in the interior part of the Valencia province.

Our venture began in 1997, in a cellar in Utiel with 13 barrels, when three friends and lovers of the wine world decided to set up a wine cellar as a hobby, without economic pretentions, with the sole objective of getting some enjoyment out of producing the best possible wine. In those days we still didn’t produce wine but compared a great number of samples and we chose those which we liked most, in order to age them slowly in our barrels, like craftsmen, with the same patience and tenacity as squirrels.

As time went by, we began to grow, we won some awards, and our hobby began to become something else. Two of the associate founders left the enterprise and the new company was left in the hands of three brothers: Julio, José Luis and David Salón Pérez, who moved the wine cellar to Sinarcas.

From the point of view of quality we had achieved the most the previous system allowed us, so in order to improve we decided we should produce our own wines and control the grapes from the vineyard. And for that, we had the family’s vineyards.

In 2003 we started to produce wines with varieties such as Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon; in 2005 with Bobal from our old vines; in 2007 Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc; and we will soon obtain production from our Syrah vines.

At the moment Criadores Artesanos is a reliable company that maintains the same objectives which it had at the beginning: to make the best possible wine with dedication and sparing no effort, with the same patience and tenacity as squirrels.
